Writing is always a conversation. It transcends the boundaries of space and time and enables communication with those who have been and those who are yet to come. Buried in the texts, the voices that Levin Westermann uncovers in farbe komma dunkel wait, layer by layer, to hear their thoughts - and then to answer them, to add his own voice to the chorus of the endless conversation. For writing is always also an overwriting. Literature is palimpsest. And everything is connected, in the text and in the world. No living thing exists on its own, and no text emerges from nothing. The cat, the hedgehog, the forest fire, Paris: everything is important and an expression of the world. The sun, it shines on the world. "the sun its rays / like an enemy."
